Application and New Hire Process

The purpose of this process is to explain the steps recommended for hiring a new employee and/or new truck driver and the training that may be required to bring the new employee and/or driver up to the quality and safety standards of our current workforce.

Note: No promises made during the employment interview can negate the employment at-will concept. PUCC does not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, disability or any other characteristic protected by law. PUCC is an equal employment opportunity employer and participates in the Tennessee drug free workplace program.

Job Search

PUCC recommends you search our open positions to find a job suitable to your skills and interests. We further recommend you review the Meet Us, Services and Projects sections of our website to learn more about the company and what services we provide our clients.

Submit an application

PUCC has made available an online application for both hourly and salary applicants. We recommend you submit an online application for the open position listed under the career section of the website. Please apply only for the position(s) that most closely fits your skills and qualifications. You can upload materials such as resumes and cover letters as an attachment to your application to further document your experience, skills and education.

First Interview

Upon receipt of your online application, someone from our office may contact you via telephone or e-mail to learn more about you. As we may receive numerous resumes from time to time, please feel free to follow-up with a phone call to one of our office locations.

If you are close enough to one of our office or field office locations, you may be asked to drop by and meet with us in person. If during this first interview, a hiring decision is made, you may be asked to go to a local facility and submit a pre-employment drug screen. PUCC participates in the Tennessee drug free workplace program, and it is our policy that all new employees be subjected to a pre-employment drug screen. In the meantime, an offer of employment will be subject to the passing of a drug screen. Once a favorable hiring decision has been made subsequent to receipt of your drug screen results, you will be asked to provide two (2) forms of identification in which a photocopy will be made for your confidential employment file.

First Interview for Drivers of Company Vehicles, Non-CDL Drivers and CDL Truck Drivers

The application process for Non-CDL and CDL Truck Drivers is governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. If you are a Non-CDL or CDL Truck Driver Applicant, you may expect the following first interview process to apply in addition to the above first interview process:

You may be asked to submit a valid driver’s license or CDL Driver’s License and a current DOT Medical Card. Once a hiring decision has been made, you can expect both documents to be photocopied for inclusion into your employee Driver Qualification File.

You may be asked to give PUCC permission to order a motor vehicle report so a risk rating can be assigned to you as a company driver;
You may be expected to submit a pre-employment DOT drug screen at a local facility.
The Supervisor/General Manager or an authorized representative may request you to road test on the applicable Commercial Motor Vehicle you will be responsible for operating.

If during this time a hiring decision is made, the Supervisor/General Manager may ask the driver to complete the following while waiting for the MVR/Risk Rating assignment and/or DOT pre-employment drug screen:
a. Driver Qualification File

Second Interview

If you are applying for an administrative, managerial, marketing or financial position, you may be asked to participate in a second interview. The second interview is to demonstrate your technical proficiency and your familiarity or interest in the sewer and water rehabilitation industry. Our goal at the second interview is to assess your skills, experience, education and qualifications.

Final Interview

If you are applying for a senior level position, we will likely follow up with a third interview, this time with the company Chief Member, Member or both.

Training

Once you receive a favorable hiring decision and become part of the PUCC family, you may be expected to participate in a one (1) to two (2) day training program. The training program for hourly employees, truck driver employees and salary employees is located under the employee portal section of this website and is accessible to authorized employees.
